National Street Rod Association 2012 Event Calendar

Hot RodIf you are a hot rod fan, you probably want to check out one of the National Street Rod Association (NSRA) events that will be held around the country in the coming year. Featuring customized cars manufactured in 1982 or earlier, the NSRA competitions are great for getting a close-up look at some beautifully crafted rides as well as to meet the artists who created them.

Here’s the NSRA’s schedule of major events for 2012:

  • April 13-15: Southwest Street Rod Nationals Plus, State Fair Park, Oklahoma City, Okla.
  • April 27-29: Western Street Rod Nationals Plus, Kern County Fairgrounds, Bakersfield, Calif.
  • May 4-6: Street Rod Nationals Plus South, Chilhowee Park and Exposition Center, Knoxville, Tenn.
  • May 25-27: Mid-America Street Rod Nationals Plus, Ozark Empire Fairgrounds, Springfield, Mo.
  • June 1-3: Street Rod Nationals Plus East, York Expo Center, York, Penn.
  • June 22-24: Rocky Mountain Street Rod Nationals Plus, Colorado State Fairgrounds, Pueblo, Colo.
  • August 2-5: 43rd Annual Street Rod Nationals Plus, Kentucky Exhibition Center, Louisville, Ky.
  • September 14-16: Street Rod Nationals Plus North, Kalamazoo County Fairgrounds, Kalamazoo, Mich.
  • September 21-23: Northeast Street Rod Nationals Plus, Champlain Valley Exposition Center, Burlington, Vt.
  • October 5-7: Golden State Street Rod Nationals Plus, California Exposition & State Fairgrounds, Sacramento, Calif.
  • October 12-14: Southeast Street Rod Nationals Plus, Florida State Fairgrounds, Tampa, Fla.

Formed in 1970, the NSRA is an organization dedicated to the celebration of the American hot rod. Its shows are among the most popular of its type in the country.

Learn Street Rod Fabrication at WyoTech

If hot rods and custom cars are your passion, WyoTech’s Street Rod and Custom Fabrication concentration can prepare you for a career in this exciting field. Offered as part of WyoTech’s Collision/Refinishing Technology career education program, Street Rod and Custom Fabrication is available at campuses in Blairsville, Pa.; and Laramie, Wyo.

As part of the Street Rod and Custom Fabrication program, students learn the use of basic hand tools and specialized equipment like the English wheel, power hammer, bead roller and louver press. Custom paint training covers the application of specialized finishes like pearls and candies. Students also learn techniques for special effects, including the layout and design of graphics.
