WyoTech Student-Turned-Teacher Wins 2011 Dream Maker Award

Oscar TuckerAn instructor in the Motorcycle Technology program at WyoTech’s Daytona Beach campus has won the 2011 WyoTech Dream Maker Award for outstanding achievement in teaching. The winner, Oscar Tucker, is a graduate of the same program he now teaches, having graduated from WyoTech in 2008.

“Oscar Tucker engages his students using a variety of techniques,” said Jorge Gutierrez, president of WyoTech in Daytona Beach. “A mixture of demonstration and hands-on learning brings the subject matter to life and keeps his students intrigued in the curriculum.”

“If you need help, he goes beyond lengths to help you, whether it’s staying late or coming in early,” said one of Tucker’s students.

A member of the American Motorcycle Association, Tucker is also heavily involved in local community efforts to raise awareness of issues affecting the homeless.

The Dream Maker Award is presented annually by WyoTech’s parent company, Corinthian Colleges, Inc. It recognizes instructors who perform well above expectations and help students move toward achieving their career goals.
