Allstate Ranks Nation’s Best, Worst Drivers by City

Wrecked CarWhat are your chances of getting into an auto accident? The answer depends not only on your own driving abilities, but where you happen to live, according to auto insurance giant Allstate. The Northfield, Ill.-based company recently released its seventh annual “Best Drivers Report,” using collision statistics for the largest 200 cities in the U.S.

Topping the list as the best driving city for the second year in a row is Fort Collins, Colo. According to the report, the average driver there will have an auto accident only once every 14 years. At the bottom of the list is Washington, D.C., where drivers — who presumably have their minds on more important things than driving — get into collisions once every 5.1 years.

According to Allstate, the nation’s best drivers are in the following cities:

1. Fort Collins, Colo.
2. Boise, Idaho
3. Lincoln, Neb.
4. Chandler, Ariz.
5. Huntsville, Ala.
6. Knoxville, Tenn.
7. Springfield, Mo.
8. Reno, Nev.
9. Eugene, Ore.
10. Chattanooga, Tenn.

5. Providence, R.I.
6. Philadelphia, Pa.
