’69 Camaro Voted Best Chevy of All Time

1969 Chevy CamaroThe 1969 Camaro was voted the best Chevy of all time in an online competition sponsored by General Motors (GM) to celebrate the brand’s 100th anniversary. The Camaro was one of 16 historic Chevy models for which fans could vote, ranging from the original 1912 Classic Six to the 2011 Volt. The contest used a four-round, bracket-style competition to determine the winner.

Described as “one of the hottest-looking rides of the muscle car era,” the ’69 Camaro led the online competition with 25,058 votes. Facing the ’69 Camaro in the final round of voting was 1970 Chevelle SS, the top horsepower muscle car that gained immortality at the hand of Vin Diesel in 2001’s The Fast and the Furious. It earned 18,449 votes. Defeated by both these mean machines in the preceding round were the ’53 Corvette — the classic’s first year of release — and ’57 Bel Air, one of the most iconic automobiles of any American brand. Both entries earned approximately 13,000 votes each.

The current incarnation of the Chevy Camaro, introduced in 2009, is heavily influenced by the design of its 40-year-old predecessor.
