For more than 30 years, Asian manufacturers have owned a large share of the American motorcycle market. Names like Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha and Suzuki are as well known to American bikers as England’s Triumph or America’s own Harley-Davidson.
Understanding Asian motorcycles in general and being able to expertly service these brands in particular can be extremely valuable if you’re thinking about a career in motorcycle technology. To prepare you for such a specialty, WyoTech‘s campus in Fremont, Calif., offers a specialty program in Asian Motorcycles as part of its Motorcycle Technology career training program.
What You’ll Learn
WyoTech’s Asian Motorcycle specialty program teaches students how to diagnose, maintain and repair systems found on Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha motorcycles sold in the United States. This includes the engines, drive trains, transmissions, fuel systems and electrical systems produced by these Asian manufacturers.
This specialty training is in addition to the more generalized courses taught as part of WyoTech’s Motorcycle Technology curriculum. These include:
- Suspension Systems
- Brake Systems
- Four Stroke Engines
- Two Stroke Engines
- Fundamentals of Electricity
- Electrical Systems
- Fuel Systems
WyoTech’s Motorcycle Technology program, combined with the Asian Motorcycle specialty program can be completed in as little as 18 months. Graduates may be qualified to compete for entry-level positions in motorcycle dealerships, motorcycle repair facilities and customization shops.
Courses are taught by industry professionals. Classes are small to give each student the individualized attention he/she deserves. Lab areas are modern and fully equipped with the kind of tools and equipment found in most 21st century motorcycle maintenance facilities.
