WyoTech understands both the romance and utility of high-performance, which is why its Sacramento campus offers a High Performance Powertrains concentration. Part of its nine-month Automotive Technology program, WyoTech's High Performance Powertrains concentration provides students with hands-on training in maintaining, diagnosing and repairing performance-driven upgrades in both automobiles and diesel-powered vehicles.
Elements of WyoTech's High Performance Powertrains concentration include:
- Engine block design
- Rotating and reciprocating assemblies
- Performance camshaft and valvetrain variations
- Fuel injection management systems
- Ignition control systems
- Systems upgrades
- Electronic engine management system
- Computer reprogramming and calibration for outcome parameters
- Modifications and power train tuning for improved performance
- Chassis dynamometer verification of performance outcomes
This education qualifies students to seek entry-level employment building engines or street rods, working as a race team technician, or being part of an after-market parts research & development team.
