Over this past holiday, Street Rodders from across Sacramento showed up to display their vehicles and donate toys at WyoTech Sacramento's First Annual WyoTech Toy Run. The drive collected more than 150 toys for the Children's Receiving Home of Sacramento, which is a provider of emergency and temporary shelter and care for children between the ages of 2 and 17. These children are victims of abuse, neglect, and abandonment.
The event is the brainchild of Luke Dingman—Senior Technical Support. The toy run was organized by Jonathan Warren, Director of Student Services. The planning team also included Eagle Techs Cole Nance, William Huston, Joey Wiggins, T.C. James, Gene Church, James Carr, Scott Leach, Ren Geckley and Joshua Witham.
Gifts were dropped off by some hot rod enthusiasts as they cruised through the WyoTech Hot Rod Shop en route to other exciting events. Others stayed for the show, with participants filling the shop floor and spilling out into the parking lot. Trophies went to those with the best cars and bikes in the following categories: Cringle’s Custom, Rudolph's Rad Ride and Prancer’s Bike.
The planning team was happy with the success of the event, and is already thinking about how to make the event even bigger at the Second Annual WyoTech Toy Run at the end of 2009.
