WyoTech, an NHRA Youth and Education Services partner was out in full force at the 20th Annual NHRA Career and Opportunities Fair, accompanied by WyoTech-sponsored Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Steve Johnson.

More than 3000 Southern California high school students attended the event to learn about careers and educational opportunities in the motorsports industry, the automotive industry and with the U.S. Army. The fair was held in conjunction with the NHRA Auto Club Finals in Pomona, CA.

Johnson, an event speaker, inspired the young attendees to pursue their dreams by connecting his racing to education. He also introduced his team member, Sam Perry, who is a WyoTech graduate. Johnson posed for photos at the WyoTech booth.

WyoTech was one of more than 40 different companies and colleges to have interactive booths at the event. Students were able to visit with representatives at each booth. They also participated in activities such as the WyoTech Engine Challenge, which required them to dismantle a Chevy V8 engine and retrieve the flag hidden inside, at the same time following strict rules involving organization and neatness.

A real drag racing tree at the WyoTech booth gave visitors a chance to test their reaction times to start lights. Those who took the challenge, tested on a replica of Steve Johnson’s drag bike.

At WyoTech, we know you’re at the dream stage in life. We also know we have the career tech school training programs that can give you the hands-on experience and knowledge that can qualify you to seek employment in many of today’s  automotive technology career fields.
