Why Not Consider a Career in Plumbing?

plumber-1.jpgWhen there's a leak involved, a plumber can be a familiar and welcomed sight. Plumbers do a whole lot more than most people would imagine. They install and perform work on many different types of pipe systems, from water treatment plants, to homes, to skyscrapers. It's not uncommon for plumbers to work on climate control, waste removal, or gas systems too.

Plumbers are usually involved in the installation of things such as fixtures, sinks, appliances, water heaters, and systems in individual structures. On any given day, he or she might be involved in installing the large pipes that carry gas throughout cities and neighborhoods. They also install water drainage and sewer systems in houses and buildings.

Plumbers, pipe fitters, and steamfitters, all need to be able to read blueprints and follow the instructions of contractors and builders. Computer skills are becoming more and more helpful as well. Computers are able to create very detailed and specific plans, and can pinpoint where pipes are to be placed, types and locations of appliances and fixtures, and the types of materials to be used on the job.
