Have you ever taken a moment to really think about what it means to learn? Well, we learn things every day, but very few of us take the time to give the subject much thought. Simply put, and according to the experts on the subject, learning equals a change in behavior. Some things take a long time to learn, (like calculus); and there are others lessons we can learn immediately (like putting your hand on a hot stove).
Some people are "auditory learners", meaning they learn best when they hear something. Some people are "visual learners", and some learn "kinesthetically", or by doing things. If you're the kind of person that enjoys working with your hands, you'll fit into this last category.
WHAT DEFINES AN AMAZING STUDENT?
1. Skill
This is the ability to know what to do and how to do it in any given situation. Skill means that you're more than a one-trick pony. It means you have the ability to plan your time and reach your goals.
2. Curiosity
It's the thing that makes you keep searching for a solution, an idea, or an answer. Unfortunately, as we get older, we tend to lose a healthy portion of our curious nature! We stop asking questions about life and the world around us.
However, when a spark of curiosity hits us, it can open up doors, and learning new things can become a new quest in life.
3. Open Minded
Being open-minded is the ability to try new things, listen to the ideas of others, and to keep the possibility open of changing your own views. Developing the talent to listen, and to intelligently weigh the views of others can be a valuable asset in life.
4. Self-Disciplined
This is the ability to do the right thing at the right time regardless of what you'd rather be doing. As an adult, you're in charge of your own actions. No one is gong to check up on you to see if you're following through with your game plan. You have to discipline yourself to take care of business.
