Car theft is the number one crime in America! Every 26 seconds, another car is stolen. A good thief needs only 60 seconds, and a professional thief can get the job done in 10 seconds or less.
Insurance stats rate luxury and sports cars among the top targets. Keeping your car from getting stolen requires common sense and a few helpful guidelines.
Protect you car with these easy tops:
1. Take your keys with you, even if you're just "running" in for a moment.
2. Roll up the windows all the way. It's easy to come back to your vehicle and turn the air conditioning on if necessary.
3. Make a habit of locking your car, even it i'’s parked inside the garage.
4. If you're out shopping, park in well-lit garages or parking lots.
5. Don't leave the car without putting packages, electronic equipment, and all valuables in the trunk.
6. Install an alarm.
7. Place alarm stickers on the window.
8. Consider having a gasoline cut-off switch installed
9. Consider installing ignition locks, hood locks, or trunk locks.
