Daytona Bike Week Begins

bike-week.jpgDaytona’s Annual Bike Week is second only to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally as the most popular motorcycle rally in the United States. Nearly 500,000 people were expected to make their way to the Daytona Beach area for Bike Week. Some come for the race, some just to enjoy the weather and be with others who share the same passion they do – motorcycles!

A hot spot for attendees at Bike Week is Bruce Rossmeyer’s Destination Daytona, one of the largest Harley-Davidson Dealerships in the world. Settled in on the sprawling Destination Daytona compound is WyoTech’s beautiful Daytona campus. For the 18th year in a row, WyoTech’s Daytona campus celebrates Bike Week with its annual “WyoTech Daytona Brute Horsepower Shootout.”

The WyoTech Daytona Brute Horsepower Shootout allows competitors to strap their motorcycles onto one of WyoTech’s dynos and “rev it all the way to the redline” pursuing cool prizes and more importantly for Bike Week, bragging rights. Twenty different categories will compete, from 125cc motocrossers all the way to the “Unlimited Class”. Last year’s 1300cc winner put down more than five-hundred horsepower!

What better location than to host this event at WyoTech’s Daytona campus, one of two WyoTech campuses that offer specialized training in Motorcycle Technology program.
Admission into the competition is free, and tours of WyoTech’s campus are available for anyone interested in taking on a new career path, or just checking out what’s new on campus.

Final results for this year’s “WyoTech Daytona Brute Horsepower Shootout” will be posted online once the results are tallied.
