How to Jazz up the Interior of Your Muscle Car with the Perfect Paint Job

One of the best ways to get your hot rod or muscle car noticed is to jazz it up with an interior paint job.

Plastic, vinyl, and leather can all be colored as well. No need to fret the roof fabric and seats either! They should be on your paint list along with everything else.

All you need to bring to the table is a little basic know-how!

Start with the dashboard, and remove as many pieces as possible. Included will be radio knobs, heater vents, ashtrays, and gear shift knobs and so on. Just keep in mind that whatever you wash needs to be dried thoroughly. For the actual paint job, painter's blue tape is your best bet, because it peels off easily after the paint job is finished.

Some key areas you'll want to avoid getting paint on are the bottom of the windshield, the gauges, the radio, your gear shift, and parts that have chrome plating.

Any plastic areas on your target list should be smoothed with sandpaper and cleaned thoroughly. Now it's time to paint with primer! Your auto parts store will have the best inventory of primers available.

Read the instructions, and make sure the product you buy is suitable for plastic; otherwise, the paint will chip off easily.

Painting the upholstery should follow the same the same procedure as any other part of the interior. Check the auto parts store for the special paint made for upholstery. You'll be looking for paint both non-flammable and non-toxic.

Taking your time and planning the event will be the difference between a successful paint job and one that looks like it was done by an amateur. And, don't forget to wash your car with soaps that are non-abrasive. Most importantly, avoid parking your car in the sun whenever possible.
