3 Tips on How to Squeeze Your Gas Tank for More Mileage

It's funny imagining a person literally squeezing their gas tank, but it's not hard to understand the urge with gas prices and cars that guzzle gas for one reason or another. You can save a lot of gas, and out of pocket change, with a few enhanced driving techniques.

The Squeeze is on!

1. When's the last time you checked your tire pressure?
Okay, let's be honest about it. When is the last time you walked around the car and looked at your tires? Most people, including myself on occasion, will notice low tire pressure only when the car is leaning at least 30% to the left or right. Proper tire inflation means your tires aren't being overworked.

2. Do you really need the air conditioner on?

Of course you don't! Every time you fire up the AC, you're wasting precious gas. And, you don't have to be on a main street either; the same rule of thumb applies if you're cruising on a side road. Opening up the windows a bit can save you a lot of money. Remember, in a pinch. Nothing beats ram air.

3. Compare Gas Prices

You would be surprised at how much gas prices can fluctuate, even at gas stations that sit on a four-way intersection. Don't always be inclined to go with the cheapest prices either. While you may save at the pump, the long range implications of cheap gas means your car isn't running at its optimal best.

If you know the gas brand is dependable, you can pretty much go with the lower price just down the road at a competing gas station.

Here are some extra tips that can help you save on gasoline expenses.
