If you know the secret of how to flush away plumbing problems forever, you're bound to end up being quite wealthy. While the vast majority of us may not be able to lick the long term challenge, there are several things that will always pop up that we can fix right away.
If nothing else, we can give the world the temporary "illusion" that we're definitely on top of things. Some of the familiar problems will be hot water heaters, toilets that don't flush properly, and drainage problems in the sink and bathtubs.
Help Is on the Way!
Look for the simple things to get overlooked. The water heater will often put out colder water if the thermostat is set too low. It's a simple fix to adjust the thermostat upwards. It could help if each member of the family practiced taking shorter showers.
Getting the toilet to flush completely might not be a scary as most people think. If flushing is falling short of the mark, the toilet ball is probably not being lifted high enough by the water refilling the tank. This can sometimes be remedied by bending the float arm slightly inward in the direction of the rising water.
Clear the Drainage Pipes
Grease and debris in the drainage pipe is often the reason water won't freely flow down a sink. If you have no recommended chemicals on hand you can use, hot water with vinegar, an old school remedy, should work just fine.
Leaky faucets are often the result of a worn washer, which are very easy to replace. If it's a loose washer nut, it may need several twists to tighten it.
There are always going to be problems beyond your range to fix. That's when it's time to call the plumber. Hopefully, they've been trained and accreted through the proper sources.
The best way to flush away your plumbing problems is with old fashioned "know-how".
