How the Grease on a Car Mechanic's Arm relates to His IQ

While your car may not actually have an IQ, you have one, and it pays to know as much about your vehicle as possible. Some of the topics that can raise you auto IQ includes knowledge about the types of fuel a vehicle can use, how power is measured, the ignition system, brake system, electrical system, and the powertrain system.

Simply put, if your mechanic isn't getting dirty, and he or she isn't up to their neck in grease and grime, your car may not be getting the full attention it deserves.

Diagnosing and fixing car problems doesn't always mean the mechanic has to look like they slept at the city dump; it does however look odd if they're passing the "white glove" inspection test. In most cars, dirt is present the moment the hood is popped.

Here's the Other Side of the Coin!

On the other hand, if you're keeping your car serviced and tuned up on schedule, your mechanic shouldn't be covered in engine oil and black exhaust fumes from head to toe. A well-kept car needs far less attention than one that is neglected.

A spotless engine speaks volumes about the owner. But less face it! Unless your vehicle is a show room model, it's going to have a measure of grime that falls within the normal boundaries.

The next time you're at the mechanics shop, it might not hurt to give them the once-over and inspect for grease and grime. These car mechanics are a lot smarter than the world gives them credit for.
