Technology is always moving forward, and you can bet there are going to be a lot more hybrid vehicles on the road in the days to come. Sooner or later, you might have to ratchet-up your mechanic repair skills just to keep pace.
No one really knows if consumer demand will keep pace with the increasing supply of hybrids; as much will depend on other factors such as, the price of gas, and better technologies that may
emerge and mature.
The trend now is to add the hybrid technology to existing models, and this is a good sign that hybrid technology is maturing. Owning a hybrid these days no longer puts places you in the category of the over-protecting, penny pinching consumer. In fact, it's getting hard to tell if a car is actually a hybrid. They drive and handle just like any other vehicle on the road.
Owning a hybrid for many people means they can have "their cake and eat it too". It also gives them a feeling they're doing their part in making the planet a greener and safer place to live in.
Hybrid 101
Hybrid vehicles operate by combining the power from a gasoline engine and a battery powered electric motor. It's smart technology! The batteries that power the electrical motor are charged whenever the gasoline engine is running.
The batteries also charge a little bit every time you brake for a stop or to slow down. You never have to plug in hybrid vehicle as you would with one that is completely electrical.
Your next Step
Millions of people drive vehicles, and with each following generation, there will be more drivers to come. It seems the world is always going to need good auto mechanics to keep the flow on-the-go.
