Let's face it; most people can be as picky as a car show judge when it comes to making their vehicle stand out in the crowd. If you're in competition, and you're hoping the major competition doesn't show up, there are a few things you can do to hopefully walk away with the blue ribbon.
And just think, if you've managed to stay awake in your auto detailing classes, this might be the day it all pays off.
Remember, it's The Little Things That Count:
1. Whip out the Antennae
It doesn't take much money or effort to change out your antennae. Expected costs are usually between $30 and $80. And, you'll probably get better reception when you play the radio.
2. Paint the Engine
Painted engine parts are always a big favorite, especially any parts that are made of plastic. Using a good primer will allow you to paint almost anything. Be sure and use a color that matches something in the interior of your vehicle.
3. Sport some Vinyl
Put up some vinyl graphics. This is a cool way to paint your car: without actually having to paint it. Make sure the graphics are straight, if they're not, they'll stick out like a sore thumb with a hammer hovering over it.
4. Rev up the Trim
If want the inside to have a luxurious look, nothing speaks volumes like an attractive wood trim. There are some companies on the market that offer kits for you to trick out your ride with. These can include rear-view mirrors, center consoles, and gauge faces to name a few.
5. Trick-out the License Plate
Let the world know who you are with a jazzed-up license plate. Be sure and match up the back plate with the front plate. A car can look good, but if the plates don't match, it'll throw off the entire effect.
6. Opt for the Racing Look
If you're into the racing look, by all means, install some Billet Gas Doors. They'll give you that cool racing look, and will be the icing-on-the cake of any cool custom job.
7. Chrome-out the Exhaust Tip
A chrome plate piece is usually quite affordable, and will normally run between $3 and $50. And, they're easy to install. All it takes is a screwdriver.
8. Wipe Away the Competition
No show car is complete without a new set of windshield wiper arms. You'll be noticed, because there aren't that many windshield show-stoppers on the show circuit.
Being in an auto show is a lot of work and fun, regardless if you win or lose. However, winning takes a game plan no matter what your goals in life are.
